*Clay Policy

Liability
We use only the finest clays and raw materials in our moist clay. However, because of the variety of applications, glazes, techniques and firing procedures used as well as the many, inevitable variables inherent in natural, ray materials, we do not warrant results obtained from using this clay body. L&R Specialties’ liability is limited to the replacement of this product. Any claims must be made within thirty days of purchase.

Hardening or Disuse
Moist clays tend to become firmer with age. We recommend keeping the clay sealed while not using it, rotating your stock, and using it within 6 months of purchase.

Freezing
Clay might be frozen in winter transit. Such conditions are beyond our control. The clay may be re-worked and used satisfactorily.

Slurry
To insure the safety and quality of our clay mixing process, we are unable to accept slurry, scraps, or hardened clay for remixing.

Clay Samples
Five pound samples of all L&R Specialties clay bodies, excluding Mix, are available upon request.

Returns
Returns can be arranged. Please call to make arrangements for a return. NO RETURNS AFTER 60 DAYS!! (No returns on moist clays after 30 days.) Returns due to customer error are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Returns that cause price breaks to drop below the required quantity will also cause the prices to change to the appropriate price per quantity kept. No shipping costs will be refunded on returns not due to an error on our part. All items must be returned in like new condition.

Custom or Special Blends
We offer custom mixing for any clay we do not stock which you submit the formula for, any clay we previously stocked but have discontinued, any special consistency (wetter, dryer, dry blend, more or less grog, etc.) of stock clay. To prevent error, your formula should be submitted in writing. It will be kept in confidence and neither the recipe nor the clay itself will be offered to anyone else without your written permission. We are unable to use the following materials as they will damage our equipment: some stains, extremely coarse grogs, gypsum, fiberglass, fibers, and sewer pipe clay. See the following before ordering:

Minimum Order:
1,000 pounds. Occasionally a formula will make slightly more than 1,000 pounds. You are responsible for purchasing this overrun.

Consistency:
We will pug your custom or special blend as close as possible to the water content you specify.

Order Time:
We will mix your order at the first available opportunity; however, you must allow at least 21-28 working days. Porcelain and low fire red clays will usually take slightly longer.

Packaging:
Custom and special blends are normally not boxed. If you would prefer to have your order boxed, please let us know when you submit the recipe for a price quote.

Payment:
If credit is not established with L&R Specialties, payment must be in advance.

Set Up Fee:
A set-up fee of $25.00 will be charged on all custom blends. This is in addition to clay price.

Testing:
All clays should be tested in your kiln before using in production!
